A fruit dip platter is one of my favorite high-impact, low-effort appetizers for holidays and parties. This four-ingredient cheesecake fruit dip is creamy and tangy like cheesecake and lightly sweetened with preserves.
What Makes This Fruit Dip Unique
I’ve found lots of fruit dips to be way too sweet, calling for ingredients like sweetened condensed milk, marshmallow fluff, brown sugar and powdered sugar. Fruit is already sweet and in my opinion a good dip should support that, not overshadow it.
This recipe is just lightly sweetened with apricot preserves, making it the perfect pairing for fruit and crackers. Feel free to substitute in other flavors of preserves like peach or pineapple.
What to Include in a Fruit Platter
Any fresh fruit is a great accompaniment to my cheesecake fruit dip. Seasonal fruits are especially fun to include. You can see I opted for:
- Granny Smith apple slices
- Honeycrisp apple slices
- Concord Grapes
- Raspberries
- Strawberries
I also included sweet crackers like whole grain fig and thyme crackers and sweet lemon and olive oil tortas. Graham crackers and candied nuts would also be a great addition to this spread.
How to Prevent Sliced Fruit From Turning Brown
Hot tip from a food stylist! Apples and pears will start to turn brown once they’re sliced and exposed to the air (aka: oxidation). The easiest way to prevent this from happening is to toss sliced fruit in a bowl with a tablespoon of lemon juice. This also adds a nice ‘zing’ to the fruit, which I personally enjoy.
If you don’t want to add the tart lemon flavor, you can use Sprite soda instead. Myself and a food stylist who I work with discovered this on set one day when we were out of lemons, so she used Sprite and the apples held for a couple hours without turning brown!
