Description

Saucy, tangy Ground Chicken Sloppy Joes are a one-pan meal that comes together in under 30 minutes. An American weeknight classic!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Tbs butter
  • 1 medium white or yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/2 cup light beer
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbs honey
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 6 burger buns
  • Shredded cheddar cheese *optional

Instructions

  • In a large nonstick skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add the ground chicken or turkey to the skillet. Cook until the meat is browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Add the salt, pepper, chili sauce, beer, Worcestershire sauce, and honey to the skillet.
  • Stir the mixture well. Once it begins to bubble, reduce the heat to medium-low (or low if your stovetop runs hot).
  • Let the mixture simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce may look watery at this point, but it will thicken as it cooks.
  • After 15 minutes, the sauce should be thick and the meat well-coated. If you’re not ready to serve, cover the skillet with a lid and reduce the heat to the lowest setting or turn it off. Be careful not to overcook, as you want to maintain the “sloppy” texture.
